Creating a Substack on Music and Coding

A Tale of Two Passions
I am starting a substack out of the desire to finally merge my two passions: music and coding. In particular, I am a singer/songwriter and music producer as well as PhD statistician and data scientist. I have always studied music and math personally as long as I could remember and I have struggled to figure out how to make both work in my professional life. Now, I think I have figured it out with this substack.
Why this, why now?
I am launching this space because, for a very long time, I have wanted to learn data structures and algorithms for coding interviews. I studied math, statistics, completed a PhD and a post-doc, and I work in tech, yet I have not been able to crack a data structures and algorithms interview. I struggled to learn the material and answer the questions. None of it made sense to me. It wasn’t practical or useful for my life and I could never find the time to spend 6+ months studying without even knowing if I would get a job in the end. I am an artist. Why should I spend so much time studying for questions that have no place in my life?
What kind of community am I looking to build?
I finally decided that if I do spend time learning data structures and algorithms, especially for coding interviews, it will be on my terms. It will be an enjoyable experience, something that I would do even if I never did a single interview. How might this happen? If I make it relevant to me. And this would have to be through music. I will make everything that I am learning and every question that I am practicing, related to music. I will learn new things about not only data structures and algorithms, but about music and technology, and I may even create new music along the way. That would make this entire experience worthwhile!

What to expect?
Expect regular posts about data structures, algorithms, and coding questions with some musical applications. My goal is to post at least once per week, maybe more. I still need to make time to create music!
